In this section we are going to look at more complicated Spanish, including a range of tenses from the GCSE specification. The theme of holidays and travel is a common one for assignments in both speaking and writing. We will cover talking about previous holidays, using the simple past tense, and also look at how to describe the weather and learn the names of the seasons in Spanish. We will then go over activities you might do on holiday and think about particular past holidays, using the imperfect tense. In chapter five we will think about holidays that are yet to happen, using the future tense.

We will also deal with talking about where you are from and your daily routine. Throughout the title we will deal with various grammatical points, particularly the present tense. Grammar sometimes gets negative press for being boring, but getting to grips with it provides you with an excellent framework for performing well in Spanish. When you have mastered the rules it will give you a buzz when you get the correct answer, just like when you solve an equation correctly in maths. After you've listened to the Spanish speakers, don't be afraid to repeat their pronunciation.Concentrating on this will undoubtedly improve your confidence in Spanish and your final grade.

Whilst you are working your way through the chapters make sure you have a pen, paper and a Spanish dictionary to hand so you can work through the questions and note down any unfamiliar words.

Following that, we will look at talking about the working world in Spanish, from work experience placements to writing a CV and applying for jobs. This in particular will help with your formal language skills which are important for written assignments. It's essential to be familiar with the tenses and know how to construct them in the exams.
