Night of the Scorpion is a poem written by Nissim Ezekiel. It is an interesting poem because although the poet was brought up within a Hindu culture, his poem is clearly influenced by his atheist views. The poem remembers a time during his childhood when his mother was bitten by a scorpion. The neighbours come to his house and we see their religious views in their reactions to the bite. This title will discuss some ideas that the poet may have wanted you to think about, and how he achieves this.
