Everyone loves giving advice. It's human nature. There are probably many everyday situations where you find yourself giving advice, even if it isn't asked for! But writing to advise in an English exam is much more difficult than this. Many GCSE candidates don't realise that advice writing is actually a mixture of information writing, argument writing and persuasive writing - you have to be a good all-rounder to write really good advice. You also need to let your reader know that they have a choice whether to listen to your advice or not. It might help you to think of a certain Spanish Football club: SPARL FC. This is one way of remembering the seven key aspects of writing to advise: Structure, Purpose, Audience, Register, Language, Form and Content.
