Industries are found all over the world. But how are industries organised? The first chapter looks at the four different sectors into which industries can fall. The terms primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary are all covered. It also covers industrial location, and shows why industries are built in certain places. The example used is the Toyota Car Plant in Derby. The second chapter covers the idea that industry is a system, with inputs, processes and outputs. The example we will think about is the manufacture of potato crisps, something which many people eat! We will also work out the difference between the human and physical inputs into the industrial system.
