This title will look at Hindu rites of passage and the Hindu family. It wil...This title will look at Hindu rites of passage and the Hindu family. It will begin by looking at the sacred thread ceremony, which is a ritual that takes place to celebrate a child reaching adulthood. The next rite that will be explored is marriage. A Hindu marriage joins together not only two people but two families. The marriage is likely to be guided by the parents of the bride and groom. Following this the title will investigate divorce, and the specific divorce rites within Hinduism will be explained. Then the title will focus on the rituals surrounding death, and outline the Shraddha ceremony following cremation. Finally, the family life of Hindus and the roles of people in the extended family will be examined.
